I want to be a well-rounded person. What should I do?

Start your day witha routine. So that by the time you had your breakfast, your clothes are on and you’re ready to go about your business, you’ve already conquered yourself, in a sense. Read books, when you can. Don’t shy away from controversial subjects.

A well-rounded person will cultivate discipline. Steel your mind as well as your body. Avoid repetitive viewing, avoid social media, avoid YouTube and TikTok alghorithms and other things designed to slow you down and distract rather than uplift you. Be in the world, but not always of the world — hide away in a book from time to time, and devour it. Have moments of me-time and make them into a holy exercise, one not to be disturbed by anyone or anything. Eat well. Avoid sugar and don’t overload on carbs, get plenty of protein.

Be a well-rounded person the way the ancient Greeks and Romans wanted to be — someone physically and mentally capable, quick-witted. Be sociable when you can be, to keep your EQ on parr with your IQ. Be among people and, at times, hide away from them. Fluctuate. Be fluid. Keep moving. Be a part of something bigger than yourself, and don’t forget to humble yourself. Don’t get too full of your own glory but be mindful of your relative insignificance.

Ive been pretending to be okay and acting as normal as possible, but Im actually completely heartbroken after a recent breakup. Its painful and really affecting me, to the point where I cant concentrate at work, Ive lost my appetite, I cant sleep, and It feels as if my whole world has been turned upside down. I loved him so much. He said so many cruel things to me and it made me realize he must not have loved me the way I loved him, or he wouldnt have said such horrible things. How do I handle the heartbreak and why cant I accept that he didnt love me and just forget about him?

Make a routine that works for you, and stick with it. Allot time to activities that make you a better, more compelete person. You’d be amazed by just how much time you’ll waste, otherwise. Each morning before I cook breakfast for my kids and send them to school, I start with a cold shower.

Really wakes you up. Eat. Do some stretching, some push-ups. Remember — a healthy mind should be housed in a healthy body. Don’t take “well-rounded” too literally.
